The Devils have more than a great goaltender. They may have the best pool of young defenseman and defense prospects in the league. Just saying. |

If I'm Shero, I trade Schneider for a first. The Devils won't be contenders for years to come, why let him rot and not resign when you could build for the future? Then you can further tank for good picks. |

I hope Shero runs the team even further into a ditch. However, he'll probably end up learning from his mistakes. |

I'd say a great trade partner here is Edmonton, but no way in hell they'd move what is essentially McDavid for Schneider. If I'm NJ, I hold Schneider until next season and then trade him for Edmonton's 2016 1st and the newly expendable Leo Draisaitl, who's a top 6 center behind Nuge and McDavid.
EDIT: Quote didn't work. This was in response to Znags. |

I actually think that would be a good approach. They could probably get a lot for him trading him to Edmonton or some other goalie desperate location. The NJD roster should have been blown up at last year's trade deadline. Lamoriello has been terrible at running the organization so I really don't think Shero could be any worse. But hopefully he is. |

Good luck to Josh Yohe. ALways liked him. Hopefully he can help dejan lube up and get his head out of his ass and return to a good hockey writer. |

Yeah I could see that, even possibly this year for Pens first. I don't see why EDM would turn that down. NJ can get a plus as well. |

Interesting take on the Devils. I love how you guys praise the young d talent on the pens and then you go and don't even mention the guys the Devils have or that 3 of their best prospects have recently graduated to the NHL making their system seem a lot weaker. We have a star goalie and a good up and coming defender we aren't a team with nothing but forwards so I don't see how you figure there will be years of rebuilding but hey your the pens fan so your right! |

They have the pens 1st and some assets. Could work. Pens 1st, drasatl, 2016 1st for schneider and one of merril or gelinas etc. |

So we should trade a goalie who just proved himself to be elite for a worse return then we paid to get him on year after he signed an extension at a good price for us? Wtf are you guys smoking ??? |

Hey moron, every single site ranking prospects ranks the NJD among the worst. But I guess they don't know anything either right? - jfkst1
Hey moron did I say it was good ? Holy (frank) give an American city the face of the game and they become the be all end all of hockey knowledge. |

Shero to the Devils could be a good... If there was any organization that needs new blood in it, it is that one.
I work in the building where their AHL team plays, and just seeing and hearing things from the outside, that organization was stuck in a rut.
The issue for me, is will Lou let Shero do his job? The first indication of that will be if Shero brings any of his former hires with him (Fitzgerald or Botterill come to mind). Shero always had his Assistant GM be the GM of the AHL team, but Lou's kid Chris Lamoriello is the Albany General Manager. If Shero brings someone in and they take over Chris's duties, then that will go a long way in showing that Shero has some authority.
Shero had some shortcomings with the Pens, but I think that a new perspective on things (and a completely different roster structure) could force him to manage differently. It was the right move firing him, but he always seemed like a very good guy, and I wish him them best. |

I know "why" the Penguins didnt seek a 3rd round pick as compensation for the Shero hire...but man that really grinds my gears. an extra third round pick would be so dang valuable. |

Or keep him and continue to rot in the cellar until he doesn't resign. Hey bud your choice |
